Steampunk Cannon Bracer by tungstenwolf Steampunk Cannon Bracer by tungstenwolf
Behold ladies and gentlemen. A fully functional brass cannon mounted on top a leather bracer. This new piece of mine is re-enforced with solid brass brackets for kick-back reduction and adds to its protectiveness. Made from the finest materials and carefully placed parts and rivets for both good looks and pure functionality that makes the whole piece both stylish and a fearsome sight to behold.

(It really does work, uses a cocktail of mixed fire cracker powder and I use little bearings or BB's for rounds. Accurate for only a limited range)

Anyone can make something that LOOKS pretty, but actually functioning? That is craftsmanship :D

Thanks! Yes but many people here rather see more pretty things that look great but do not work rather than decent things (plain to them) that do sometimes. I will always put my best in what I do. :)

Functionality is beautiful in and of itself. I'd rather had a gauntlet that looks horrendous but has perfect freedom than one that looks beautiful but won't even let me make a fist. You do good work, can't wait to see what else you craft :D

I make gauntlets like that actually. I try to combine both but functionality always come first for me. Whats next for me is getting that darn video up soon.
Thanks for the watch by the way.:)

Your work actually reminds me of a local smith I met earlier this year, his main point for armor is to allow you to move as easily as if you were wearing a jacket (or glove, or what have you). I had tried on a mitten-style gauntlet to see if it was as flexible as it looked (it was), gave me a good appreciation for function over fashion.

I'd rather live looking messy that die looking pretty.
I am learning how to make things prettier though, lol. :)
Its like everyday clothes, sometimes the fancy stuff is not very comfortable but a T-shirt is but isnt always nice looking, or shoes.

Its completely fine. I have used it a dozen times and I always come out ok. Though sometimes it is a little loud and I get this little ringing in my ears. I am trying to get a video up as well. :)

Did not know the first time but now I have some muffs.
The more I say I'll have it up the harder I try to find a way to work youtube.

Is it that hard? I know it takes forever to upload, but if you cut down the vid, it should just go up (after a while).

All I have is a little digital camera and am not sure how to edit it best. I want the vid to be good so people can see clearly and vividly how my creations work.

Yes it works but most people don't believe it (partly because they are all skeptical and partly because they want to see it in action) so I am trying to find a way to get a video up on you-tube. Once that happens prepare your awesometer for overdrive! :D

I was thinking that, and I did record it but I dont know how to work youtube man, as soon as I figure out how to upload it from my camera up to youtube I will let people know. That along with my poisoner and a few things I have been wanting real footage of their function up for people to see.

I havent finished that project yet... So I'll let you in on it. I am working on a functional Assassin's Creed Hidden Blade-gun-poison weapon device. I am deciding on making it steampunk or not.

You dont need raw materials. Be inventive and use things from your surroundings, start small, then when your confident you can expand. Thats what I did.

If your dad is like my dad, the go rumage around in his piles of junk and he wont notice, just try not to take anything 'too' important looking. Also, if he asks, deny, deny, deny... or doing an 'art' project.
